“STAR” is an acronym for

Responsible owner.
These are all the things every puppy needs.
The new S.T.A.R. Puppy class works on the skills the puppy and owner team needs to pass the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Test.
The obedience skills developed in this class include leash walking, sits, stays, down, and come. The social skills worked on in this class include accepting new people and dogs without fear or aggression.
Teams who pass the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy Test will receive the following:
• A gorgeous gold olympics-style medal with the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy logo (see photo at right)
• An attractive, frameable AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy certificate
• An AKC Puppy Handbook
S.T.A.R. Puppy is open to purebred and mixed
breed dogs and the program defines ‘puppy’ as a dog
up to the age of 1 year old.
